How the X/E Files work?

The X/E Files derives its power from its fully repository based approach. New programs developed using X/E Files store the program logic in the Progress Database. The X/E files renders the same program logic across different user interfaces, allowing changes to be made dynamically, since the program logic is present in the repository.

Some of the program logic that is stored in the database repository are:

• - Menu structure
• - Screen layout (e.g. widget placement and properties, icons, tool bars)
• - Browser configuration (including dynamic queries)
• - Security settings (Program and Widget security, as well as record Create, Update and Delete security)
• - Data validation rules
• - Multi-languages
• - Event mappings
